Winter Driving

Driving looks easy, and in good weather, can even be a lot of fun, but driving in winter conditions should never be taken lightly. Q. 1) The dangers of driving in winter can be reduced with the right attitude. The car, the road and other drivers become unpredictable, and often fog reduces visibility to the point where other cars just a few mwtres away cannot be seen. Snow can innocently be covering sheets of ice, and the car coming towards you can suddenly slide across the road and hit you. So what can you do protect yourself? Sudden movements should be avoided because they make your car difficult to control. It is important to drive smoothly on icy roads, which means that when you turn the steering wheel, or touch the brakes, or accelerate, Q. 4) you must be as gentle as possible. It can be helpful to imagine you are driving with a cup of coffee in your hand and you don't want to spill it. Q. 3) Anticipation is your best friend in these circumstances, expect problems before they happen. As you drive, gently touch your brakes to see how quickly you can stop, and use this information to judge how far you need to be from the nearest vehicle and how fast you need to be going. As a general rule allow double your normal stopping distance when the road is wet, three times this distance on snow, and even more on ice. To avoid trouble, you need to have your car under control at all times. it sounds simple, but requires great care and concentration.
